Ingredients

  • 1 gallon of water (4 liters)
  • 4 ounces salt (125 grams)
  • 3 ounces sugar (90 grams)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 tablespoon peppercorns

Steps

  1. Combine water, salt, and sugar in a stock pot.
  2. Make a sachet with the herbs and spices. Combine with water mixture.
  3. Bring to a boil, while whisking.
  4. Pour into a shallow pan to cool. Remove sachet.
