Just as you may have used MLA Style or APA Style to cite sources and format your work in other college classes, you will use Associated Press Style (AP Style) when you write news and features stories. You also may use this style in a strategic communications job.

The Associated Press Stylebook has thousands of entries, but you can find answers to the most common questions by visiting Purdue University’s Online Writing Lab. Boston University’s Writing Center also offers a Cheat Sheet. Take a look at the following areas:

  • Titles
  • Numbers (ages, dates, etc.)
  • Capitalization
  • Abbreviations, especially for states
